President's Message: David Bressie
Our court resurfacing is underway. I know that it will be inconvenient but it will be worth it. Please be respectful of our fellow members and don't go over the court time limits. Courts 1-3 will be completed by August 9th and courts 4-7 will be completed by August 23rd.
The Calcutta is coming up on September 7th and 8th. Please sign up as it is a popular event.
As always, if you have any ideas or comments, please let me know. See you on the courts!

Old time members were sad to hear the passing of long-time PTC employee Mary McNeil. Mary ran the snack bar five days a week for twenty years (1994-2014). Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Peninsula Tennis Club is going green and trying to do our part by limiting the use of plastic cups. Please help us in the effort by bringing refillable water bottles when you visit the club.

We are well into summer and there is lots of great tennis at the club. Thanks to all the who members and guests who participated in our member/guest invitational on July 14. It was a beautiful morning on the PTC courts and a very exciting Wimbledon final provided a great Sunday of tennis.
In August, the tennis committee will take a break while the courts are being resurfaced only to start again on September 6-8 with our very popular Calcutta tournament. This year should be very fun with an epic Super Hero Court Battle, so dust off your capes and get your masks ready. The sign-up sheet is up at the club and we hope to see you at the always raucous Friday night dinner for the team draws and bidding, and on the courts Saturday for the men and Sunday for the women.
October will be a big month at the club with two tournaments. PTC ladies, please mark your calendars and find a partner for our 2nd annual Betty Cookson Ladies Doubles Tournament on October 19th and 20th. Last year's tournament was a great competition and we are hoping for lots of participants. Finally, we will close out the year with the men's singles tournament - look for sign-up sheets for both in September.

With Summer in full swing it's great to see all areas of the club being used by our members - the courts, the pool, the clubhouse, the gym and the BBQ area. In terms of the membership, we don't have any resignations or new members to report but we do have one new applicant.

A huge thank you to the 4.5 and 5.0 Men's Team who hosted the July 18th Twilight Tennis evening. The club was packed with lots of fun Hawaiian themed enthusiasm and good tennis play. Thanks for a well organized event.
We have one more exciting member bonding Twilight Tennis on August 29th hosted by the 3.0 Women's Team. The theme is BEER - more fun details to come.
