President's MessageDavid Bressie
Happy almost Spring!  We have had our first Board meeting with our new Board members and we are going to have a great 2019.  Everyone is getting going on the events and other great projects for the year.  Our court resurfacing project was approved by the membership.  We are still determining the exact dates, but they will most likely be done in early August which is our least busy time.  I know that it will be inconvenient, but the result will be great.  The Board has approved an update to the Club Rules which will be posted on the bulletin board and the website.  We clarified a few things and tried to simplify a few sections.  We didn’t change anything major but please look them over.

In addition to our usual great events, we have some important projects for 2019.  Brian, Bryan and I will be working on a ten-year capital improvement plan.  With our recent club remodel and refinancing complete, we still have many things on the horizon that will use club funds to keep improving things at PTC.  In addition to our more expensive replacements of current equipment, we always need to be planning for the future so we can avoid having to do any future assessments of the membership.  I am hoping that we can lay some good groundwork for future Boards and make sure the desired funds will be available so our projects can get completed in an efficient manner.  We are also hoping to install the photo wall in the clubhouse this year.  Kim Cresci, Sheila Druskin and Kelly Mulready are working on this project which will really finish off the club house in a beautiful and meaningful way.  Erica Reilly is heading up our Green Committee and looking for ways for PTC to be less wasteful.  We hope to have meaningful improvements that we can implement this year to reduce waste and cost to the membership.

As always, if you have any ideas or comments, please let me know.  See you on the courts!

ManagerLona Means
Please be patient as Loel, our maintenance technician, is on vacation through mid March.  Please let me know if you have any issues or concerns regarding maintenance and I will take care of them as soon as possible.  UBS will provide evening janitorial service until he returns.

Towels are walking out of the club at an alarming rate.  Please return any towels to the towel bins and bring back any towels you may have inadvertently left in your tennis bag.  We will gladly launder them :-).

The USTA 18+ season is quickly upon us.  Please sign up and play on our Peninsula Tennis Club teams.  Playing season is April 1st through June 21st.  Contact the captain or me if you have any questions.

Spring Fling is coming to PTC on Saturday, April 13th.  Our theme is Game of Thrones and we hope you'll join us for one of our most fun social tennis competitions.  Teams of 6 (3 men, 3 women) will battle it out for the iron throne -- or at least some cool PTC swag.  Play will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until 4:00 pm’ish, followed by a cocktail party.  There is a $20 per player entry fee - ($10 cocktail party fee for non-players).  All levels are welcome, the first 24 women and 24 men are in, although we will have a waiting list in case someone drops out last minute.  Participants, please make sure you are available for the full afternoon of play if you sign up and give us plenty of notice if you do need to drop out, so we have ample time to find replacement players.  Sign-up sheet is up at the club or email Lona to get your name on the list.

Also, mark your calendars for the next tournament, the Ladies Doubles tournament on Friday, May 10th.

Social CommitteeJackie Sage/Elise Brand
A few weeks ago, we had a lovely Valentines-themed thank you to our prior year's social committee and we launched our new year of events at the Brand home.  A big thank you to Elise and Eric for hosting us.  Thank you to all of you who attended and participated in the event.  This year we will have about 30+ volunteers working the events with additional volunteers looking for a spot to help.  We so appreciate you all.

Look for our sign-up sheet for the Spring Fling on Saturday, April 13th.  Come play if you dare at our Game of Thrones themed tournament.

PTC Green Committee
In an effort to both save money and the environment, we are planning to phase out single use cups at the club (both water and coffee cups) in the next month or so and encourage all members to start bringing their own water bottles.  We will have some stainless steel cups available to take to the court if you forgot yours.  These cups will be for use at PTC only -- please return to the snack bar after use so that they can be washed.  In addition, we are switching to ceramic coffee cups.  We are following the lead of many of the clubs on the peninsula who have already implemented more green approach to beverages.
