President's MessagePeter Stevenson
Every time I come to the club to play tennis or meet up with friends, I'm reminded of how fortunate I am to be part of this PTC community. Our club is truly amazing - great members, beautiful venue, storied history - and I'm honored to serve on the Board again this year.

In my role as President, I'd like to formally welcome my fellow club members who will be joining me on the 2018 PTC Board.  I'm very pleased that Kim Cresci, last year's President, is staying on as Vice- President.  She will certainly be an important source of perspective and guidance to me and the other Board Members.  Kim is also going to take on the role of Secretary, however, with a bit of a twist.  This year, we decided to expand the role of the Secretary to include efforts to research, document and display key elements of our club history.  As this is our 85th anniversary, there will be many stories to share.

Sheila Druskin is heading up Membership and I can't think of a better leader to represent all the great aspects our club and to manage the process with prospective members.  Keith Pratt will be in charge of Finance for the club and having known Keith and all his talents for nearly 25 years, we are in excellent hands.  We are also very fortunate to have David Bressie taking on the House & Grounds role this year.  Perhaps the only thing that might be stronger than David's ground strokes and net play is his knowledge and experience in the Property Management space.  This will certainly serve the club well as we look to address the many priorities moving forward.  As a fellow "Captain" within the USTA circles, I'm excited to have Bryan Welsh taking on the Tennis Chair and Tennis Pro Liaison role this year.  With more than 10 competitive and social events each year, Bryan and his tennis committee will be working hard to provide venues for us to showcase our collective passion for the game and friendship with fellow members.  As part of his role, Brian will function as the liaison between our new Director of Tennis & Tennis Pro (Pablo Alvarado) and the Board, working to ensure strong alignment across all of our programs.  Be sure to check them out in the coming weeks.  Angie Kwan will be our Social Events Chair and she and her committee will be heading up all of the festivities throughout the year.   Given Angie's bright smile and high energy, the social events are sure to be fun for all.

As a Board, we will be hard at work with Lona and the various committees to make sure everything runs smoothly for all of our members.  We of course always welcome input along the way.  With that in mind, please don't hesitate to reach out to any of the Board Members to share your thoughts.

Finally, please join me in thanking once again our outgoing board members Duncan Grenier, Matt Maloney and Jeff Eliason for all of their service to the club these past few years.  You've collectively left huge shoes to fill.

Looking forward to a fun and memorable 2018 at the PTC!

From last month's Drop Shot, most everyone has been able to guess that the teen pictured with San Smith was Mark Strem.  His son Michael is a spitting image of Mark at the same age.  As for the other photo, only a couple people recognized Steve Livingston as the youth standing next to his idol, Arthur Ashe.

Sunday's Super Bowl party turned out to be a fabulous party.  Thank you to Sheila Druskin and Angie Kwan for putting on the event.  It was a terrific game going right down to the last play.  Congratulations to Mary Eliason for winning this year's Chili Cook Off.  Also, congrats to the following winners in our various Super Bowl Pools.

Laura Hesselgren (1st & 2nd quarter)
Nancy Batchelor (3rd quarter)
Parker Smith (4th quarter)  Steve Smith's son
Kathy Strem - Non-Football Proposition Bets
Mark Strem - Football Proposition Bets - Sheet #1
Ben Chew - Football Proposition Bets - Sheet #2

ManagerLona Means
Loel has a family emergency in the Philippines and will be gone for two to four weeks.  During his absence UBS will provide a limited nightly janitorial service.  We appreciate your patience during his absence.

The nice new beautiful white towels are disappearing at an alarming rate.  Please check your tennis bags before leaving the club and deposit them in the laundry baskets provided.  Also, please use the beach towels located in the tennis office to wipe puddles and white lines when the courts are wet.

Many thanks to the Board and members for asking me to join the Board.  I’m looking forward to organizing Tennis events, both traditional and new.  Be sure to read the Drop Shot each month for information on our big events, including Spring Fling, van Dillen Doubles Championship, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, Woods ‘N' Whites, Pizza & Pros, Calcutta, and a few Twilight’s and TGIF’s.   In order to put on these events, I need your help.  I am currently recruiting members to join the Tennis Committee.  I’d like to have a good cross-representation of our club members.  I’d also like to find people who have an interest in playing a leadership role in one of our traditional events.  The Tennis Committee will be forming shortly, so please contact me at the club or via email at brwelsh6679@gmail.com.  Looking forward to a fabulous year of tennis activites.

Greetings All.  I look forward to the future of PTC and the Social Events for this year.  Our club is so very special and it is because our members are so invested in making it a great place to spend time with friends and family.

I hope to follow closely in the footsteps of Sheila Druskin, as the former social committee chair.  And, like Sheila, I love to have fun and enjoy bringing all along for the ride.  Let's make it great together.  I'm happy to have any volunteers and open to suggestions.  See you on the courts.

Membership CommitteeSheila Druskin
Hello members.  I’m happy to be the membership chair this year, and I look forward to bringing some more fun families to the club as space allows.  As of press time, we have a wait list of 30 families who have applied to PTC, which speaks volumes about the great reputation our sweet little club has around town.

For those of you who have sponsored applicants, please be sure to bring them to the club to play (observing our twice per month rule) and introduce them to members.  We want our sponsors actively involved in their applicant’s path to membership.

Please help me welcome our new member family to PTC.
