President's MessageDavid Bressie
As our event season winds down and we start preparing for next year I would like to thank all of our volunteers who have put in many, many hours helping out with running our club.  While I know that the Board and I get all of the awards and accolades, it is really all of our members that do so much hard work and make the events so great.  Thank you all for your time and efforts!

In our November quarterly meeting, which I encourage you all to attend, we will be voting on our three prospective board members.  They are Kate Belding (Social), Reynold Harbin (Tennis) and Gene Trainor (Secretary).  They have all been members for many years and volunteered in many different ways.  Lona will be sending you the formal email in the coming days presenting each of them for your vote.

As always, if you have any ideas or comments, please let me know.  See you on the courts!

Time to start thinking about the next USTA season.  The Adult 40 & Over and Mixed 55 & Over team registration begins November 14th.  Please contact me if you would like to captain a team.  The playing season runs from January 2020 through mid March.

The swimming pool heater will be turned off November 1st through April 30th.  The spa will remain open throughout the year.

Please close all doors, umbrellas and turn off the lights when you are leaving the club.  Also, the refrigerators are intended for day use only, please do not leave any alcohol in the refrigerators.

Our club's tennis season ended with a bang with great play during our Betty Cookson Tournament and Men's Singles Tournament in October.

At the Betty Cookson Tournament, Amy Grenier and Libby O'Leary won the Championship in the Open Division with a nail-biting second setter featuring tie breaks in both sets.  Mindy Wong and Sheila Cooper were the finalists in the Open Division, and Linda Benvenuto and Kim Cresci won the back draw.  Sheila Druskin and Andrea Iraheta McMahan won the 7.5 Division in a great match that went to a third set tie breaker.  Sharon Marson and Cecilia Sharer were the finalists in the Open Division, and Elise Brand and Laura Hesselgren won the back draw.  Thanks for the great crowd that came out to cheer everyone on during the finals and semi-finals and for the delicious lunch provided by Matt Dowling and Boudin Bakery.  Thanks to the team that put this tournament together: Betty Cookson, Marci Martinucci, Linda Podolski, Louise Tierney, Lisa Rogers, Bryan Welsh, Dennis Huajardo, Steve Wong, Steve Brooks, Nancy Batchelor, and Mark Pearcy.

The Men's Singles Tournament finished on the last weekend in October with Mark Strem prevailing over Ryan Clark to win the club singles title in the Open Division.  Doug Heffernan beat Peter Stevenson to win the 3.5 Division.  Ron Pang won the back draw in the Open Division and Bill Meyers won the back draw for the 3.5 Division.  Thanks to all who came to watch on a very blustery Sunday!  I would also like to thank all the members who helped make is such a success: Bryan Welsh, Peter Stevenson, Nancy Batchelor, Mark Strem and Ron Pang.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me this year -- it truly takes a village and we had a great team to make every tournament go smoothly.  A few of you were always available at every tournament and whenever I needed any help -- a special shout out to Bryan Welsh, Marci Martinucci, Nancy Batchelor, and Linda Podolsky for always stepping up when I needed help.

Please join me in welcoming our newest member family to the PTC.

Amanda Wheeler
Amanda and her husband Andrew Ogilvie live on the Peninsula and are avid tennis players - playing 3-4 times a week.  Amanda started playing tennis as a child and has been at the sport ever since.  She is a strong 4.5 player and is currently playing on the PTC Women's USTA teams.  Andrew also has played for many years and is a very solid 4.0 level player.  He is looking forward to playing on PTC USTA teams as well.  Amanda is a Physician and business partner with Randy Wong, and is also very good friends with Mindy.  The Wong's and Sheila Cooper - sponsors of Amanda and Andrew - have played with them at the club numerous times over the past year.  Everyone who's met Amanda and Andrew over the past year - whether on or off the court - have shared how friendly, low key and fun they are and what a great addition they will make to our PTC community.  Sponsors:  Mindy and Randy Wong; Sheila Cooper

Sad to see you go!   We will miss you...
