President's MessageDavid Bressie
Our courts are all complete!  Thank you for your patience during our resurfacing project.  I think the courts look and play great.  Please remember to only bring water out onto the courts so that we don’t stain the surface.  We have also put new rubber strips on the bottom of all of the benches.  If you need to move them, please pick them up.  Don’t drag them across the courts as this may gouge the surface of the courts and might also rip the rubber strips off the benches.  If you have any ideas for future club improvement projects, please email me or Brian Desler so that we can present them to the Board for consideration.

Fall is almost here and Burlingame High is back in session.  Loel will put out the cones in the BHS parking lot spaces to try and deter the students from parking in PTC spaces.  Please feel free to move the cones and park in the PTC designated spaces.

There have been several reports of unsupervised children in and around the pool and spa.  As a reminder children under fourteen must be actively supervised by an adult at all times while swimming.

September begins the next USTA season with the USTA Mixed 40+ and Combo Men's and Women's teams playing September 16th through December 15th.  Please contact the team captains or me if you have any questions at peninsulatennisclub@gmail.com or 650-347-1439.

Tennis CommitteeErica Reilly
After a month hiatus due to court refinishing, we got back to playing tennis with a wonderful beer-themed Twilight Tennis on Thursday, August 27 hosted by the 3.0 Ladies.  The tennis committee is looking forward to an Epic Super Hero Court Battle Calcutta tournament this weekend.  Next up, in October, are the Men's Singles Tournament and the 2nd Annual Betty Cookson Ladies Doubles tournament.  We are hoping for an enthusiastic club response to both, so get fit for singles and find a partner for doubles!

Membership CommitteePeter Stevenson
Hi Everyone.  It’s been a busy month for the membership committee.  Please join me in welcoming our three newest members and their families:

Simona Jankowski
Simona and her husband Orion moved to Burlingame in 2003.  Simona played in high school in Southern California, but tennis took a bit of a back seat given career pressures and starting a family.  Over the past five years however, the family has adopted tennis as their main sport and Simona, Orion and their kids (Katie and Stephen) are all actively playing now.  Both Katie and Stephen are taking lessons and playing on school tennis teams and in USTA tournaments.  More recently, Simona has been playing USTA (3.0 level) in San Carlos and is looking to play with the PTC in the upcoming season.  The Jankowski's are a lot of fun and everyone that has met them has indicated they will be a great addition to our PTC community.  (Sponsors: Selcher & Smith)

Lori Langmack
Lori and her husband Scott live in Hillsborough and have been playing tennis regularly for many years.  Lori is on the high end of the 4.0 rated players and may soon be a 4.5.  She plays several times a week and partners with Ruth Shannon - splitting her time between PGCC and PTC.  She has captained many teams over the years as well.  Scott is also a strong player (4.0 rated) and will look to get involved on PTC teams.  The Langmack's have two children - Noeile and Christina - both in the 20's.  Both sponsor families have known the Langmack's for more than 15 years and are good friends - sharing that Lori and Scott are fun, friendly, helpful, dynamic and enthusiastic both on and off the courts.  Looking forward to seeing the entire Langmack family at the PTC.  (Sponsors: Shannon, Bressie)

Andrea McMahon
Andrea lives just around the corner from the PTC (on Chatham) and is a very solid player.  Currently, she plays with our Women's 4.0 USTA team, is friends with many PTCers, and plays at the PTC at least two times a month.  She and her husband Justin are super friendly and will certainly be regulars at the club.  The McMahan's have two young boys and have shared that they hope they will pick up the game as well.  An interesting tidbit is that Andrea grew up coming to PTC as her Grandfather was one of the early members of the club.  Everyone that has met Andrea and Justin have shared how nice they are and that their family will make a great addition to our PTC community.  (Sponsors:  Paz, Oldham)

Sorry to see them go!

We hope you're all enjoying the resurfaced tennis courts.  My first outing was at Twilight Tennis and just as I was about to bring my adult beverage on the court, I was reminded that probably wasn't a great idea.  Let's keep these courts in great shape and remember to only bring water when playing.  Enjoy!

Social CommitteeJackie Sage/Elise Brand
We hope you all enjoyed and made it to at least one of the Twilight Tennis events this summer.  Special thanks to the 3.0 Women's team who hosted our Twilight last week.  Shawna Krasts and Beth Francisconi created a great theme and had a fantastic crew helping them implement the event.  Special thanks to Peter Stevenson, Pam Shaffer, Davina Chall, Kim Kletter, Audrey Tse, Mary Eliason, Tami DeWitt, Nina Herndon, Lauren Mathews, Gina Haggerty, Alison Caron and of course Mickey Podolsky and Jeff Tsu at the grill! Finally, we can't forget Lona who always does a lot of prep and planning for every event!  Thank you all.
