President's MessageDavid Bressie
I am really looking forward to a great 2019.  I am very appreciative of the trust that the membership has placed in me and our new Board.  First, let me thank our outgoing Board members for all of the great work that they have done over their terms.  Kim Cresci, a past President, served as Secretary last year and did a great job.  She will continue helping out with the design of our photo wall that will be going up this year in the clubhouse.  Sheila Druskin who served as Chair of the Membership committee had a tough job last year.  Sheila really stepped up and improved our membership application process as well as the document itself.  We have some great new members and a new streamlined process for the whole Membership committee.  Keith Pratt did a lot of work with Jeff Eliason in the refinance of the club which will be invaluable to us over our new 15 year, fully amortized loan.  Keith also kept our budgeting and finances in great order over the course of his tenure as Treasurer.  These members put in a lot of hours making sure that the club runs smoothly for all of our members so that you can keep focusing your efforts on your tennis game.

I am looking forward to some great tennis events this year which will be run by Erica Reilly as our Tennis Chair and Jackie Sage as our Social Chair.  They have some great ideas and lots of energy to keep our events fresh and fun for everyone.  Brian Desler will be taking over House and Grounds from me and will hopefully be managing our court resurfacing project in August.  We will be sending out the proposal by email later this month.  Our holdover Board members from last year are Angie Kwan and Bryan Welsh.  Angie did an awesome job with Social last year and will be Secretary this year.  Bryan ran the tennis events so smoothly last year (with a really thick binder to prove it) and will be our Treasurer this year.  Finally, last year's President, Peter Stevenson, will be serving his final year on the Board by serving as the Chair of Membership.  He'll be a great reference for me.  Our 2019 Board is full of very hard-working people who will do a great job for our club this year.  I am looking forward to working with them all.

As always, if you have any ideas or comments, please let us know.  We always appreciate the thoughtful comments and suggestions from our members and please know that we will give them the same thoughtful consideration.

2019 is going to be great!  See you on the courts.

Please join me in thanking Stuart Batchelor who headed up the men's locker room skylight replacement crew, along with expert contractor skills by Joe Feeney and Earl Gustafson and skylight hoisting skills from Kelly Kemp and Matt Maloney.  The new skylights look fantastic.

In the spring, daylight hours are extended and USTA matches will once again only be played on the front three courts with a split start on weekends leaving the back courts open for member play.

In an effort to save some trees and money on postage and printing, invoices will be mailed via email beginning in April.  Please let me know if you have changed your email address.  Also, we are looking into automatic payment options to be considered soon.

As always, please contact me at 650-347-1439 or peninsulatennisclub@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Club News:  Jeff Tateosian
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Sunday's Super Bowl party.  The game wasn't too exciting, but the crowd of over 70 members kept the party going.  Thank you to Angie Kwan for decorating the room on her last social event.  She's done a terrific job with Social this past year.

We had nine chili entries in this year's Chili Cook Off.  Congratulations to the top four recipes - Alison Caron (1st place), Gene Trainor (2nd place), Karen Harrigan (3rd place), and Peter Schlampp (4th place).

We had many winners with the football pools and prop betting sheets.  Winners in the football squares pool were: Chris Cooke (twice), Grace Trainor (twice), Bob Newman, Jerry Ceglia, Jennifer Bojues, & Renee Hollinger.  The football prop betting sheets saw the following five big winners: Steve Williams, Kevin Tierney, Pat Belding, Barney Barnato & Jerry Ceglia.  Congratulations to all our winners and for everyone joining in on our annual tradition.

Hello PTC Members – I look forward to a year of fabulous tennis as this year's Tennis Event Chair.  We will have 15 opportunities throughout 2019 for you to get out there and play tennis with your fellow club members – from serious to fun and social, there is definitely an event for you to join us on the court at all levels of play.  If you don’t want to play, please consider volunteering at any of our tournaments – yet another great way to get involved and have more fun at PTC.  Please email me at ereilly94010@gmail.com if you’re interested in helping.  Thank you.

I'm looking forward to the new year and heading up our Membership committee in 2019.  Currently we have over 20 families on our wait list, which is a testament to the great reputation and amazing atmosphere we have here at PTC.

For those of you who have sponsored applicants, please be sure to bring them to the club to play (observing our twice per month rule) and introduce them to our members.   We want our sponsors actively involved in the process and a big part of their applicant's path to membership.

I'm excited to serve as House and Grounds Chair for the coming year.  On February 1st, you received an email detailing a major court resurfacing project expected to take place in August.  Please take the time to return your vote to Lona.  In the short term, we'll be looking into replacing the cabinet doors under the counter/ice machine that are starting to show some wear.  Please let me know if you see anything else that needs attention around the club.

Social CommitteeJackie Sage/Elise Brand
Hello from your new Social Committee Duo!  The two of us are so looking forward to a super fun and creative year of tennis events at our special club.  First, we’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to last year’s Social Chair, Angie Kwan, for all of her hard work.  We were lucky to have you.  And, we’d love to kick off our year by inviting anyone interested to a Valentine’s Day themed Cocktails & Treats Party at Elise’s home on Tuesday, Feb 12, at 7:00pm.  There we will raise a glass to Angie and last year’s committee and then tell you a little bit about what we are up to this year.  Thank you to all those who have already offered to be on our team - we hope to gather a big happy committee of team players (as they say, many hands make light work), and perhaps we can entice you to sign up to help with just one event on the 12th.  Our first event will be Spring Fling on Saturday, April 13th.
