President's MessagePeter Stevenson
It's been nice to see so many members enjoying the club both on and off the court these past few days.  If you haven't been around lately, come on down as it's a great time to get in some court time, cool off in the pool or have a barb-b-que with family and fellow club members.

The women's inaugural Spring Women's Doubles Tournament was a huge success!  Many thanks to Angie Kwan and her social committee members as well as Bryan Welsh and his tennis committee members on such a fabulous event.  I heard that plans are already being drawn up for next year.  A special shout out to Gene Trainor for leading the charge and making it a great morning for the ladies.

Please join me in welcoming Steve Dworetzky, our new assistant to our Club Manager Lona.  Steve will be helping with some of the duties as well as extending office coverage to six days a week.

Some great events are just around the corner.  The 45th annual van Dillen Men's Doubles Championship is set for this coming weekend.  Please come out and watch (if you are not registered to play) as there will be some really fantastic tennis to enjoy.  Also, be sure to sign up for our first Twilight Tennis and New Member Welcome event of the season, scheduled for Thursday, June 14th.

Finally, a gentle reminder, club security is all of our responsibility.  If you are the last to leave in the evening, please make sure that all doors to the club, clubhouse, gym and locker rooms are closed and locked.

Enjoy the summer!

ManagerLona Means
I truly love my position at PTC, but at this time in my life I'm ready for a little more flexibility to spend more time with my family, play tennis and travel.  Beginning June 1st, I will transition to part time, or three days per week.  The PTC Board has hired Steve Dworetzky to fill in the other two days.  He will also work Sundays, so we are getting an extra day of office coverage.  While the daily schedule for each of us may shift from time to time, we will now have coverage at the club every day except Mondays, which are traditionally the quietest.  I'm sure Steve will be a great fit for the position.  Please stop by the office to introduce yourself.

The next USTA adult 55+ and Mixed 18+ season is quickly approaching, with play beginning June 11th and running through September 15th.  Please contact me or the captain if you are interested in signing up for a team, or have any questions.

Life Guards will be on duty Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's from 1:30 until 5:30 pm.  Children under 10 require an adult actively watching them while a life guard is present.

May was an excellent month for Tennis Events at PTC.  We had our first TGIF, which was fun for all who attended.  Hope to see more of you out for the next one.

On Friday, May 11th, we got Mother’s Day weekend off on the right foot by holding the first Spring Women’s Doubles Tournament.  From all accounts, this was a great day.  Some comments included, “I had the BEST time,” “…so much fun,” “…so well run,” and my favorite "…had my best day at PTC yet” (from a somewhat new member).  Many thanks to Gene Trainor, Angela Kwan and Lona for pulling this event together.

Pizza and Pro’s took place on Saturday, May 19th – Pablo’s first one.  It was a very well attended event.  The adult clinic overflowed with at least 30 members, and the kids clinic was a success as well.  The Exhibition on Court 1 featured our pro Pablo Alvarado, PTC teaching pro Stephanie Luk, guest pro Mariesue Jacutin, and reigning PTC Singles Champion Brian Heimbecker.  Both Stephanie and Mariesue are former WTA players.  We witnessed some excellent tennis!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Looking forward to June, we have one of the Club’s premier events coming up – the van Dillen Men’s Doubles Championship.  Come on down over the weekend of June 9th and 10th to watch the action on three Brackets: Open, 4.0 and 3.5.  You won’t want to miss the Open Finals and the Winners Presentations on Sunday – during the early afternoon.

See you at the Club in June.

"We witnessed amazing tennis, great fun, and beautiful weather!  Clearly, it was 'your time' and you shined," from Tennis Committee Coordinator, Gene Trainor to all our participants in the Women's Tournament held in May.  It was a day filled with fun, competition, self care, and prizes.  Congratulations goes out to our big doubles winners: Amy Grenier/Jane Pearcy, Karina Dykes/Jen Salma, Adrienne Schubner/Elizabeth Pratt.  Special thanks goes to Gene for setting up the brackets and stepping into the Tennis Committee role like a champ. Well done, sir.  Also, a huge thanks goes to Daisy Kwan, Sonya Moss, Steve Brooks, Linda Podowsky, Lona Means, Loel and Tony for their help setting up and cleaning up after the event.  Great team.  Special mention also goes to Anthony Paz and Sheila Druskin for their donation of raffle prizes - thank you.

Our "Pizza and Pro's" event brought out our youngest members with our senior members to everyone in between.  We enjoyed an afternoon with Pablo and his crew of Pros, enlightening us all with their expertise.  It was an amazing day with great energy and fun prizes.  Thank you Pablo Alvarado.  We appreciate all you do for us here at PTC.

On June 14, the PTC USTA 4.0 Men's team lead by Jim Sobel will be hosting our first Twilight Tennis & BBQ.  It will be 'Dub Nation' at PTC.  So grab your favorite Golden State Warriors jersey and come out to play, socialize, dine and drink.

It's been an exciting year so far of fun activities on our lovely PTC courts.  Let's keep the fun going.  Please reach out to me if you have considered joining in the action, have some good ideas, or want to volunteer your talents.  I'd love to hear from you, my email address is akwan10leap@gmail.com.  And remember.......
