I would like to take this opportunity to thank the numerous PTC members who participated in the design and construction phases of the clubhouse/kitchen/men's locker room remodel.  At my count, there were 30+ members who were either associated with one of the various design & review committees or on the Board of Directors over the past three years.  Special thanks to Stuart Batchelor who represented the club as project director throughout the process.  His dedication to the club doesn't go unnoticed. 
 
Be sure to join us at the grand opening of the remodeled clubhouse to be held on the same night as our Twilight Tennis event on Thursday, August 17th @ 5:30 pm.  Additionally, I look forward to hosting a Friday evening cocktail party at the new bar next month.
 
Besides the many club tennis activities, we have a few additional activities to look forward to during the next six months.  Included are the 5th Annual Bocce Ball tournament at Washington Park in September, the Club Gin Tournament in October, the Club Hold'em Poker Tournament in November, and the 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament in January.  We'll also host a couple of weekday poker tournaments now that the clubhouse is open.  These events have always been well attended, and I hope some of our newer members will come join the fun.  The more you and your family are involved, the more fun it is for everyone.

Congratulations once again to the PTC 3.5 Ladies team for advancing to Districts.  The club is very proud of you all. 
 
Thank you for picking up your towels and keeping your locker rooms neat and tidy.  We do not have staff to pick up after you and your fellow members appreciate a nice and clean PTC.  Additionally, we have had several mishaps in the locker room refrigerators.  Please understand that the refrigerators are for day use only.  Remove any alcohol, and left over food items from the refrigerators before you leave the club.
 
When using the PTC ball machine, the time limit is 30 minutes after set up.  Additionally, when you are finished using the machine, please pick up all balls and store the machine and all the tennis balls back in the shed.  Please do not leave tennis balls in the ball hopper overnight.
 
The next USTA Combo and Mixed over 40+ season will play this fall September 11th through December 10th.  Team registration is through August 14th.  Please email me if you would like to captain a team this season.

San Francisco Peninsula Tennis League 3.0 PTC Team 
Please join the Swinging Aces, the PTC 3.0 "Day league" team that plays in the SFPTL.  Practices and games begin in September  2017 and run through Spring of 2018.  We are arranging our games and practices on Friday mornings throughout the year.  We will need to submit a roster by September, so please let us know if you would like to join.  Gina Haggarty, Cheryl Enright and Tricia Hagey are the Co - Captains for the team.  You can let one of us know if you would like to join and then sign the Roster and Liability form in the Manager's Office at PTC.  Looking forward to seeing all the 3. 0 players on the courts in the Fall!

Tennis Committee:  Peter Stevenson
It was a spectacular morning and a perfect setting for our annual Woods & Whites event.   Everyone enjoyed some spirited tennis on the courts as well as an array of scones, strawberries & cream and some bubbly!   Special thanks to Sheila Higgins and her social committee volunteers for making the club feel a bit like Wimbledon and to Anthony Paz and the Tennis Station for supplying an incredible array of wooden racquets.   Who knows, maybe there will be a comeback of these wooden gems as many members commented that their game actually improved!
 
Close to 85 guests enjoyed the recent "Summer of Love" twilight tennis event.   The festivities went well into the evening as did the tennis out on the courts.  A special thanks to the Women's 3.0 tennis team for organizing such a fun and "colorful" time for all.
 
As we move into the back half of the summer, we have a full slate of tennis events planned.  Be sure to mark your calendars now and sign-up once the events are posted!

Cheerio to another fun Woods & Whites showing!  A small but mighty crew decked out in their best whites enjoyed scones, strawberries and cream, mimosas and some old school tennis.  Thanks to Maggie Blumberg for making the delicious scones, to Anthony Paz for loaning the retro racquets, and to all who came out to play!
 
Speaking of flashbacks, the Summer of Love Twilight Tennis was outta sight!  Groovy décor, righteous libations, fab food, solid tunes and choice threads made for a very cool scene.  Power to the people who made it happen - Jeff Tateosian as DJ, and Elizabeth Pratt and the 3.0 Women for bringing the far out vibe.   Right on! 
 
Our last Twilight Tennis of the summer will be on Thursday August 17^th, hosted by the 4.0 Men’s team. The theme is our champion Golden State Warriors, so wear your blue and gold and practice your half court shots. Please sign up on the bulletin board or with Lona.  We will also celebrate the official grand opening that evening, so please come check out your new and improved clubroom!
